Nha Trang to host biennial sea festival

The coastal city of Nha Trang will host its third week-long Sea Festival in June to promote the area's tourism potential.

The biennial event, beginning on June 9, will feature cultural and artistic activities organised by the Khanh Hoa provincial authorities and France's northwestern Morbihan Province.
Truong Dang Tuyen, acting director of Khanh Hoa's department of Culture and Information, said the week-long festival which opens at Hai Thang Tu (April 2) Square, will celebrate traditional and contemporary culture from the two countries.
Activities include a sculpture symposium, film week, Cham pottery and textile exhibitions, a beer festival, as well as rock and hip-hop performances among others.
"We would like to lure investment from local and foreign companies into the province and enlarge its export market," Tuyen said. The city will also launch a seminar on the sustainable development of Nha Trang Bay, named one of the world's most beautiful bays by UNESCO-affiliated " The Club of the Most Beautiful Bays of the World."
The festival, held every two years since 2003, will end with a walk on a 3km section of Tran Phu Street.
