Little wind chimes make music in the sea breezes

Among many advertising board s along the road leading to ‘the resort kingdom of Mui Ne’ in the coastal city of Phan Thiet, one may see a panel with a highlighted image of a wind chime rather than landscapes or a panorama picture featuring a certain resort.

That is the symbol the Saigon Mui Ne Resort uses to distinguish itself from other resorts in the region.

In October 1999, the resort chose little wind chimes as decorations which, over time, turned into a logo for the resort. Moreover, they were typical hand-made products of the locals.

The little wind chimes, with their dingdong sounds, are not at all unfamiliar, for they have hung on doors in houses around the world for a long time. Usually they are made from a variety of materials including metal, wood or whatever generates a pleasant sound when the chimes dance in wind.

The locals in Mui Ne use natural materials, usually half of a coco shell and short bamboo tubes, to produce wind chimes that create distinguished sounds.

When strolling leisurely along the winding paths of the resort, vacationers can often hear the gentle sounds of hundreds of wind chimes, which are hung all around the resort, dancing non-stop in the sea winds.

The 87-room resort, which was built under the shadows of natural coco trees, attracts local and international travelers with its services and entertainment.

The more than 200 meters long white, sandy beach is a place for not only swimming in the crystal-clear water but also for sitting in the morning or afternoon to contemplate the panorama of natural landscapes in the region.

While staying at the resort vacationers should not miss tasting a dish called Bun Tha, a kind of hotpot designed with local ingredients, which is served in the resort’s restaurant along with Western, Asian cuisine and seafood dishes.

Guests at the resort can unwind by indulging themselves in the spa and beauty salon or the swimming pool with Jacuzzi, or relax and enjoy the karaoke, billiards and tennis court. In addition, the water sport of kite surfing, often seen in the afternoons, is a favorite among youth, and windsurfing and surfing are also available.

At present, in a move to expand, the resort is building a night club called ‘Gold Mine Club’ so as to provide more entertainment options when night falls. During their stay vacationers may cross the road to the club for a drink and dance. The club is currently installing slot machines which are expected to be open soon. When finished, it will diversify entertainment services to international travelers and expatriates in the region.

Accommodation at the resort is priced at US$70 for a standard room, US$120 for deluxe and US$220 for a suite family room.
