Korean Culture Week opens in Hanoi
The Republic of Korea’s Week of Culture opened today in Hanoi with the aim of providing an image of a RoK harmonising between tradition and modernity, a RoK both dynamic and nostalgic.With the theme “Dynamic RoK in Hanoi’, the event is to mark the 15th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and RoK.
The week features various activities, including an exhibition showcasing the e-governmental system, a forum on e-government policies and international marriage policy, charity concert, culinary festival, business forum and employment and education fairs.
The focus of these activities will be the inauguration of RoK library at the National Library on November 24. This is the first Korean library to have been set up abroad with around 300 tapes and 7,000 books and stories in various categories.
Speaking on event, Ahn Tae Sung, Press and Culture Attaché of the RoK Embassy said “The event aims to provide Vietnamese people with an opportunity to understand more about the land, people and culture of RoK as well as to boost friendship and co-operation between the two countries.”
RoK Culture Week is co-hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Information and Communications in collaboration with the RoK Governmental Information Agency and the RoK Embassy in Vietnam. The event lasts until December 2.
Previously, a week of Vietnamese culture was held in the RoK from November 10-16, with a wide range of activities such as art performance, photo exhibitions, food culture and traditional costume show.
At present, the RoK is the number one investor in Vietnam and the human resource exchange between the two countries has reached 500,000 people. “With such achievements, the relations between the Vietnam and RoK is ushering a new era of development,” said Ahn Tae Sung.
