A countryside glimpse in Bamboo Village

As suggested by its name, the Bamboo Village Beach Resort & Spa was designed with images of the simple life in rural countryside villages that are seen elsewhere in Vietnam as typical features that attract local and international vacationers traveling to Mui Ne for holidays.

Lying under the shadow of green coconut tree forests is a peaceful image of 71 thatched roof rooms and bungalows that are scattering in a 1.2-hectare garden.

Ngo Thanh Nga, the resort’s managing director, said that she made up her mind when she established the resort in 1997 to design it following an exceptional architecture using natural materials rather than concrete and steel.

Nga bore in mind that there should be a special design as well as special services in a region having many resorts to stand out in travelers’ memories when talking about vacations to the region.

A year later she inaugurated a resort with only 14 rooms. However, the first 14 rooms soon attracted vacationers, especially international ones. Each was made from nature materials of thatch and bamboo from the top of the roof to the tiny facilities inside the room.

So far, after nine years of operation, there are still 10 old thatch-and-bamboo rooms in good condition. They have become the most booked rooms that foreign vacationers choose when staying at the resort.

The resort is designed with bungalows having straw-and-earthen walls mingled with updated construction techniques and ideas delicately representing Vietnamese traditional thatched cottages.

Strolling on small gravel paved paths winding throughout the garden, vacationers arrive at a swimming pool for leisurely swimming in clear blue water, or they can take a walk to the beach to play in the small waves drifting non-stop against the coast, or pass-by a sea view restaurant where there the tables’ surfaces are decorated with a layer of sand dotted with shells beneath a panel of glass.

Spa service is another highlighted feature that attracts travelers during their stay. Bearing a name of a kind of flower that grows in ponds often seen in the countryside, Water Lily Spa lies under shady green coconut palms to bring vacationers close to nature with a design featuring oriental values in harmony with the relaxing botanical ambience.

In addition, there is entertainment such as windsurfing, kite surfing, billiards, table tennis and a fitness center among others. Room rates start at US$88 to US$165 per night.
