Colorful rock and sand wonders

Over the years, water, sun-shine and winds have shaped sand dunes and rocks by the Fairy Stream in Mui Ne into amazing natural formations that many tourists describe as a miniature version of the Grand Canyon.
There are two options for getting to the colorful rock and sand marvel. One requires a walk of more than half an hour in the bed of a stream in the resort village, located about 12 kilometers from the heart of Phan Thiet City.
It is necessary to take care when walking in the water, as it is possible to lose balance and fall when stepping into holes in the bed of the little river.
But it is a relaxing and refreshing walk in shallow water and under the shade of bamboo and coconut trees. The alternative is a walk up via the sandy hills overlooking the little river that looks like an oasis.
It is safe to reach the area of colorful formations both ways, but remember that a pair of rubber sandals will protect your feet from being hurt by sharp-edge stones under the water and hot sand in the sun.
You may meet some children offering to guide you to the miniature Grand Canyon but continue on until you see the area of beautiful multi-colored rock and sand banks rising high along the left of the stream.
No one knows when the picturesque rock and sand shapes came into existence. Locals say water, winds and sunshine are the creators of the natural wonders. Sand and soil add colors to the formations, making them one of the most popular destinations in Mui Ne.
Be sure to visit the attraction on a sunny day, as the rock and sand formations look glorious in the sunshine. However, do not attempt to climb up to the area of splendid shapes as there are quicksand spots and you may fall down the slippery slopes.
Further downstream is a small waterfall, which is a good place to take photographs in addition to the rock and sand wonders as well as chasms nearby.
